This principle states that when an object is submerged in a fluid (whether it's a liquid or a gas), it experiences an upward buoyant force that is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.

Imagine placing an object in a container of water. The weight of the water that is displaced by the object is the same as the buoyant force acting on the object. If the object weighs less than the weight of the water it displaces, it will float. If it weighs more, it will sink.
